In basketball, why does playing in an away arena sometimes affect shooters. Announcers always mention how playing in a different arena affects shooting, saying it takes time for players to get used to the surroundings. They’re not talking about the fans, but the physical aspects of the arena. But the basket is the same height and the court is the same dimensions, how can it make a difference where you play?

home court advantage is an advantage to your role players. your superstars will always be able to play. but your bench and others will not be able to perform knowing crowd is not on their side. what they mean is that it feels like your playing in a different setting (which you are) not that the court it self changes.
