What all speakers to know if you want to leave your audience Mesmerized & Inspired

It's been a while since I moved to tears for a presentation. Today was one of those later. The speaker is a self-made multi-millionaire who has been subject to great hardships before enjoying its current state.

And my training company, AdvantEdge Coaching, was fortunate to invite you to share – uniquely – the secrets of an extraordinary life.

It only reminds me to valuable life lessons through his stories, I saw how they apply some of the best practices of speaking that made its debut 2-hour experience unforgettable. Let me give you a little bit down.

This entry is made in two parts. One focuses on the strategies adopted his presentation made a memorable and inspiring. The second part covers some of the life lessons he has learned and I will take a turn in their application in public discourse.

1. The importance of the preparation work

As a martial artist, was disciplined and fully understood the importance of prep work. Arrived at the scene yesterday to do a trial. A total of 2 hours. Does your wife and best friend to give you hope that can tune. As many speakers actually make an extra effort to do that?

2. Making multi-sensory presentation

This is one of the powerful strategies adopted by Anthony Robbins. Apparently, he also knew, because he did the same too. The consequence was much appreciated. His audience – including me that he was deprived of sleep during the last week – was fully engaged throughout the entire 120 minutes.

Let's do a quick pass.

Auditory (hearing):

He did it very skillfully through music. Right upon entering the room, you will be greeted with high-energy music that awakens your spirit and make you want to dance. Near the end of his presentation, when we led to an act of courage (details below), played the theme from Rocky. It was timely, because we showed a clip from Rocky before that. In his last slide, played another piece of music that was very emotional (gradual at first, intense at the end). Linked to a conclusion about how we should dream big, that really felt like running out of the room and declare to the world how you want to live their lives. Cool stuff.

Visually (see):

Mainly through your slides. And he only used three colors. Red. White. Black. When I was handing out key lessons, their slides were white on red. When I shared about some of the lowest points in his life, his slides were white on black. That is what we call anchor. This strategy helps the public to remember and I strongly recommend to try it in your next presentation.

Kinesthetic (do):

This was very unexpected but if you think about it, this trade makes sense because it is a martial artist. He took us to write all our fears in this wooden board A3. And then near the end of his presentation, he challenged each of us to break the board with our fist or palm, which means our will to fight through all fears. Really cool. And see how women are apprehensive and uncomfortable. However, the activity was also the highlight of the presentation, because you see how every one of the participants (there were 31 of us) came to the stage and literally destroyed the Board.

In fact, one participant was so GungHo that went down with two tables. Not only do not break the Board, who injured fingers of the speaker. I thought it was funny. (and yes, yes, I must learn to be more sympathetic). But trust me, this is going to be memorable, because you, the participant was courageous and two, he showed the pain which is usually unlikely that a motivational speech. Finally, the participant destroyed two decks, one at a time.

As you can see, the speaker's presentation was one that feels like a Spielberg movie, with ups and downs, with plenty of action and adventure. Now that is a discourse of success you want create the next occasion! And it need not be complicated. All you need do is get the public to see, hear and something to do and you're on your way to be more interesting and attractive.

3. It was a story driven by the presentation

His objective was clear right at first. First as its title and the second speech in his introduction. "I want to share with how to unleash their potential." And then immediately went to her first history, his favorite fairy tale – the princess of Thailand.

If you analyze your presentation, you will realize that this story was strategic, to start. He skillfully used this simple fairy tale setting up your presentation, that is life, there will always be a hero, a coward and a princess (similar the prize). And the option of becoming a hero or coward, depends on us, which later led him to talk about all that separates the heroes from the cowards. Both face fear, but one side while the other runs from her.

And then went on to share about his life story, centered around the numerous failures had … their divorce to being broke and then him being fired from a job, etc then contrasted on their failures, with their current success, we leads to a question – what made it different?

And his answer is simple – never leave their failures. In fact, embraced and learned from them.

Does just stop there? No, of course not. He came to share about your deaf friend, a courageous person who has every right to resign because of its limitation, but did not. I cried when they meet in part because he too was moved (he was very honest!) And partly because I admire the courage of the deaf individual.

And even until the end, he raised a story, his best. It was a story about Bunkerd Faphimai, a Thai boxing champion.

I saw what he did? His presentation was essentially all the rope from one story to another. And the message serves as a transition to the next and the next story. The common thread, of course, was the target – How we can release our potential. This is a structure that is definitely worth the models, one that has proven successful and will continue to SI AUTHENTIC TELL STORIES. Remember, no one cares about the stories they collected from Chicken Soup of the Soul. Caring for your hearing more about the stories that happen in your life and the lives of people in their world. Remember that!

And finally …

4. The power of silence

He was a highly energetic speaker. He was walking very fast and relatively speaking. However, before each important point that has to do, ALWAYS leave him for a moment and think (putting his finger on the lips). And then embraced the secret he has discovered or lesson you have learned the hard way.

The moment of silence has a powerful effect on the audience. It caught our attention and more of our senses. If you are in the audience, you will feel the force invisible push you forward pending the point that you know will make a profound impact on you. And when they finally let you in particular, in the lesson or secret, soaks in and the effects persist. You really got to try it to know what I'm talking about. Let's cross our fingers that allows me to put the video online. And then you can see itself.

So the lesson is simple. The next time you're about to share an important point, pause for a moment. Take your time and look into the eyes of their audience. Increased tension. And then let go I guarantee that you will be having his audience to eat from your hands! Very nice effect. Go try it.
