The history of figure

Fruit of figs is high in iron, calcium, potassium, and fiber and is used as a diuretic and laxative.

The figs contain enzymes for digestion of proteins and can be used as a softener flesh and a flavor enhancer. Dried figs are often used to replace recipes dried apricots, dates or prunes.

Fig trees are considered so hardy as citrus, however, recent hybrids show that fig trees can survive temperatures below zero degrees Fahrenheit for limited periods of time, and if the tree is frozen in the ground, new shoots begin in the spring to the rapid turnover of the fig tree.
