Ergonomics in the office – Workstations
While staff work can vary, which undoubtedly come into contact with a computer while working in an office. For an ergonomically shaped computer sound station, ask team members to follow these tips:
- Familiarize with all the settings in your chair and check all mechanisms are working properly
- Adjust the backrest for sitting at an angle of 90-100 degrees to the seat base
- Adjust your body to your:
- shoulders are relaxed, not hunched
- elbows sit higher than your wrists and sits away from your body
- thighs are not touching the under-side of the table
- feet on the floor or footrest (should be able swing them)
- Arms of the chair or remove or make them low enough to fit under the table
- Your desk height should sit between 690mm and 720mm
- Make sure the computer screen is arms length away and the screen does not tilt
- Adjust the contrast, and font size the brightness of your computer screen to a comfortable level
- Save the screen away from glare or reflection
- Keep your keyboard to a comfortable distance, based on his experience in keyboarding (typing experiments are kept closer to the edge of the table, while users with less experience will have more away from the edge of the table)
- Take short breaks of 5-10 seconds when writing for long periods
- Position your mouse beside your keyboard and ensure that the mouse pad is flat and in good condition
If they are able to follow these simple steps when creating a workstation for their staff, that is not only safe and healthy, but also much more productive. If a staff member complains of any type of pain that may be related to their work environment, always take it seriously and action as soon as possible.
Does not take much to ensure that you and staff are safe, but can cost a lot if found to be negligent with their staff not to drive a complaint or supplier of workstation equipment appropriate.
