Is there anyway to float an element right on a website, and still keep within the page flow?

For example I have a wrap div to float a sidebar on the right. I need to fix container to adjust the height of the car. The problem is, a floating element, because it out of the ordinary natural, when I set the container to match car, collapsing the container below the sidebar, and sidebar overflows outside. What I would like to happen, is that the container to stop at the last item in the sidebar so that it looks as if the sidebar is nested inside the container, as it should, without having to set the container at a certain height. I really hope this made sense clarifty will do my best to lower demand. Thanks in advance!

This is hard to do if I understand what you do. I suggest you Google for 'css columns of equal height "(no quotes). And playing with the samples. Css2 Unfortunately This is very annoying and javascript help needed. Good luck.
